Organizational Tips to Take Down Your Festive Decor
As we brace ourselves for the hindsight is 2020 jokes and put this year behind us, we also need to prepare to take down the festive decor. It is always fun to put up decorations, but never any to pack up. Fret not, we’ve got some organizational tips handy to help you keep the Christmas spirit alive a bit longer!
Everything Need Not Go into Storage
Don’t hoard! It’s not going to be fun to pack all the things you won’t need next year, and it isn’t going to be fun to go through them again next year. The best thing to do would be to let it go, and throw out/recycle all the excess festive decor.
One of the handiest organizational tips we can give you is to store your festive decor based on the rooms they go in. By segregating according to room, you make the next year you very happy. The next time you need to do up your living room, dining room, or bedroom, all you have to do is look for decorations in the boxes with the assigned room!
Keep Your Lights Untangled
We’ve all been there. It takes hours to untangle complex wires and Christmas lights, and it’s not fun for anyone. The best organizational tip to go about this is to wrap them up carefully. Use a piece of cardboard and wrap your lights around them. This way all you have to do is unwrap, never untangle!
No Organizational Tips End Without the Special Mention of a Label Maker
Label. Every. Single. Thing.
Each box, each packet, every piece of storage. Whatever you’re packing, just label it. Trust us on this. The more you label, the easier it gets. Don’t think of your present self, but your future self who is going to have to dig through multiple boxes to find that one extension cord.
Why put yourself through such unnecessary pain? Just label the box you’re putting it in!
To Tree or Not to Tree
Everyone is becoming more environmentally conscious, and none of us want to simply throw the Christmas tree out. What then, can you do to help save the Christmas tree – the biggest part of your festive decor? There are no organizational tips for this but you can use your tree in more holistic ways instead of just throwing it out.

Last but not the least, have fun while you’re at it. Organizing isn’t always a chore, and you can always turn it into a clean-up party after the season is over! The best organizational tip is to not make it seem like you’re doing work at all. So, don’t forget to have fun with it!
